“They were,” Alex replied to Sam. He pulled out his phone and quickly dialed Leo. “Don’t know where they went, though.

“Hey man,” he said to Leo when he answered. “Where are you?”

The bass of the music thumped through he speaker as Leo laughed. “I’m still at the club. We’re watching Foxy bitch out Paul and Bear’s carrying Liz over his shoulder. Funniest shit I’ve seen in months. Man, tonight was good.”

Alex laughed at his friend and shook his head. It was anything but fun for him. In fact, it was more like pure torture. “I don’t know about that, but glad you had a good time. Think you can do me a favor?”

“Sure.”

“Grab Liz’s keys from her and drop Hawk up at La Blue to get her car for me?”

“No problem,” Leo promised. “Oh, hell!” Leo suddenly shouted. “Foxy just threw her drink at Paul and the club owner just showed up. I got to go,” he said quickly before hanging up.

“Well,” Alex murmured, “that’s interesting.”

“What?” Sam asked

“Foxy just threw her drink at Paul.”

“Oh no!” she exclaimed. “Should we go back?”

“No, they’re fine,” Alex told her. “We need to get home. Tomorrows the big day.”

“That’s right,” Sam smiled. “I’m so excited.”

“As are we, sweetheart,” Alex smiled, though inside he was spinning. He couldn’t wait for tomorrow, but for more reasons than Sam knew. He was desperate to marry the woman he loved and almost even more desperate to have this night done and over with.
